Algae & Moss Removal

Areas we clean to remove algae & moss growth:

Roofing (Especially North-Facing): Roofs are arguably the most vulnerable area, particularly those with clay or concrete tiles that retain moisture. North-facing roofs receive minimal sunlight, preventing them from drying out. Overhanging trees provide shade and drop leaves, while high humidity or constant rain creates the perfect, damp, and shaded environment for moss to take root.

Patios, Decking, and Walkways: Hardscaped areas are major hotspots, especially in damp, shaded spots or those with poor drainage. Patios often stay damp after rain, and if they are surrounded by trees or walls, they do not get enough sun to evaporate the water. Algae, in particular, thrives on the surface, while moss often grows between the cracks in paving.

North-Facing Exterior Walls and Render: Walls that do not receive direct sunlight are prone to long-term dampness, which encourages biological growth. North-facing, shaded, and damp areas, often in a "rain shadow," allow moisture to accumulate. If gutters are blocked, water can overflow and run down the wall, speeding up the growth of algae, which is seen as green or black staining.
